MLK Day

Yesterday we were out of school in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. King was one of the most significant figures in the Civil Rights movement. Do you think racial discrimination still exists today? Do you think it exists at our school? What are some ways we can all bridge the gap of prejudice and racism?

Yes, I think that discrimination still exists but it's not national. It isn't right but people still do it. I don't know of a specific person that does it but i'm bet it still happens. To stop this racism we need to all learn more about each other and then we will understand each other and then racism would be over.

Yes, Tons of people may not show full discrimination but have a dislike for that race. Tons of telivision show tease at races, even white. We could make a diffrence by treating others the same.

I believe that it does exsist today but it doesn't really happen at our school very much. We could just become friends with all races.

Yes I do think it is in our schools today. I know it still is in our world today. I know of alot of people who are racist. But I never talk alot about it. I think it is the worst think you could do to a person.

Yes,racial discremination stil exists today, but not as much as it did back in the 60's.It does exist at our school, sometimes but not often.I think we could help bridge the gap of prejudice and racism by
not judging people by their skin color, but judging them by who they are as a person and the wya thay act.

I think that there is some in the world, but it is being demolished over time. I think that there might be a little tid bit in our school, but most people don't discriminate against other races. Some ways to prevent descrimination
is to get all races involved with each other to see how we are all pretty much the same.

I think that racial discrimination still exists today, but mostly between blacks and whites. They seem to get into fighs and call each other bad names. At our school, I think that the African Americans try to stay with their skin color, and whites do to. To bridge the gap, I think we can talk to everyone no matter what color they are. Also,we can all include each other in our activities and friendships.

There is a little bit of racism but were not like puching someone for no reason because of there skin. Also we dont have different restrooms or water fountains. it exists in our schools but not often at all, and only certain students do so. we can stop it by just being nice or friendly to someone of a different religion.

I think racism still goes on today. I do not think it goes on in our school. A way we can bridge the gap is to be friends with people of a different race. You could learn something from them. You may also find they are not that different from you at all.

I do think that racial discrimination does still exist. A lot of people still call African Americans bad names and some people don't want to talk to black people. Yes, racial discrimination does still exist at our school today because there are lots of fights that involve someone calling a black person something or making fun of them. I also know someone that is pretty racist. One way we can bridge the gap of prejudice and racism is work more with each other and get more involved in doing things with others.

I think that some people still discriminate aginist others by not giving equal rights to others because of their skin color. I do not think discrimination exists at our school. To build that bridge, we can interact with people with different races to see how great they are.

I think we still have some racial discrimination. Even though we go to school together some people still discriminate people because of their race. If people would stop being mean and talk to them I don't think there would be a problem.

Racial Discrimination still exists today in many ways. Some white people think bad of blacks, even going so far as to calling them names, which can really hurt somebody's feelings. Or when you apply for a job. If you're black, you basically don't have a chance in getting it. I remember my mom's boss. He wouldn't let any black person get a job there.

I don't think it exists at our school at all. White people are friends with black people here alot, and I've never seen somebody call a black person here any words referring to their skin color.

To bridge the gap between racism, I think we should imagine ourselves as them. If you were them, and were discriminated against, would you feel happy to live in the the United States? The "Land of the Free"? Put yourselves in their shoes.

I think that some people still are racist but, no I do not think that we are at our school. I think that we can all bridge the gap by not caring what the color of peoples skin is and caring and being kind to all no matter the case.

I think that there is still a little bit of racial discrimination, but not as much as there used to be. I don't think it exists at our school as far as I know most people at our school get along, but there may be some people that are racist. We could get to know each other before we start judging them on how they look on the outside.

I think that racial discrimination does still exist today. I dont think it has anything to do with the goverment, just some people still choose to treat others diffrently. That is ok though, because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I however do not believe that we should treat others diffrently due to their race. I dont think that it is in our school. I think that the teachers and administrators all treat students the same and i think that the student body is accepting of all races.

I do think that there is a little discrimination today. In some jobs peaple won't hire people of another race. I have noticed that in our school people of the same race hang out with each other, but I wouldn't call that discrimination. People hang out with who they want to hang out with.

I think there is still some people out there that think white people are above all different races (ex. Hispanics, African Americans, etc.) Discrimination isn't a problem at our school as far as I know. I think everything that could be done to stop prejudice & any racism has already been done, but there is just some people out there that won't change their opinion on discrimination.

I think it exists today but not near as bad as it was in the 1960's. I think people still talk about people of different races but they can't do anything about it. I don't think it exists in our school because it was stopped a long time ago. Some ways we can stop prejudice is to not look at a person's religion or race but what is on the inside.

I think that it still axist toda because I've wittnessed it before.i've seen people wearing rebel flags on there cloths and on there cars. i think that it still exist in our school becasue there are people that wear rebel flags on there t-shirts that say dixie outfitters.we all could help this in our own way and do anyhting that we could if we sae that someone was being treated unfairly by there skin color by standing up for someone even though they werent someone that you would pick to be your friend.

I think racial discrimination does exist a little. PEople can be rude to others if they are not the same color. Our school doesn't have much racial discrimination. We are all friends in a way. We don't have specifec bathroom or water fountains for black and whites. A few ways we can bridge the gap is be nice to all colors and not be rude. You could also try your best to make it where we are seperated by color.

I still think it still exists because of the way people talk about other people that are a different religion or skin color. A lot of the racial discrimination is directed towawrds Muslims because of the terrorists and 9-11.
A couple of ways that we could stop racism is that if you ever see someone being prejudice towards some one speak up for them.

Yes, I do think that racial discrimination still exist today. I do not think that it exist in our school. A way that you can help solve racial discrimination is to see the person for there personality and not for there race.

I do think that some people are racist, but not eveyone. I do not think that it is in our school and I think that ways to help is to think everyone as equal people and it doesn't matter what color of skin you have or how you look it is in the inside that counts.

I think we do have a little racial discrimination, but not much. OUr school doesn't we are all friends. When people call other people names because of their color I think that is really rude. We need to all try to be nice to everyoneand maybe we can stop the prejudice and racism.
